We spent nearly two weeks in Koh Phi Phi, mainly because we found the most fantastic accommodation with the most jaw dropping view for about £70 for the whole stay.  This was Phi Phi Hill Resort which is a short boat ride off the main island.  We had a view of the island they filmed The Beach on.  We even took a little trip around this island and saw all the main points where they shot the film.  The main island was very badly hit by the Tsunami and you could still see where they were rebuilding.  It was incredible to witness exactly how much had been done since.

We chose to stay away from the main island as it was slightly too touristy for us and a bit too noisy.  We were very much in the tranquil mood and Phi Phi Hill was exactly what we were after.  The formidable stairs to get to it were at first daunting but after a while became all part of the fun.  The way the staff laughed and rewarded you with a cold drink when you got to the top made it even more entertaining.
